Dear Clients & Guardian
I hope this finds you safe and well.
I just wanted to touch base to ensure everyone is ok and reach out to see if there was any reassurance or help that AKT can provide at this time.
Thinking of and missing you all!
NOTE TO CLIENTS, GUARDIANS & ASSOCIATES
Please note the following is based on the position we find ourselves in as of 01/07/2020 and we could see vast change should further government clarity, advice or funding assistance became available for the arts.
Whilst a lot of industries start making strides forward, we find ourselves in an industry that continues to grow in concern.
Some positives on the horizon are that commercials, TV and film productions have started to plan for future casting and attempt to schedule catch ups for projects put on hold.
Theatre is in a totally different situation as I’m sure you’re aware.
We had put in place provisional opportunities for Panto and seasonal castings for many clients, some of which news hadn’t been shared of due to the unpredictable nature.
Unfortunately, months of work that has been put into attempting to ensure clients at least had something seasonal lined up on the way out of lockdown took a backwards step this past two weeks. What initially looked promising and we were building up to share exciting news of has now resulted in 80% of those forthcoming opportunities being cancelled. The cancellation has no representation of our wonderful clients and are only as a result of the lack of clarity for the industry and means the risk of proceeding on these projects for production companies and producers are too high.
Whilst it is very hard right now to look for much positive in the situation, we will continue to attempt to take advantage of all opportunities possible.
AKT feels a huge responsibility to ensure a realistic approach and to attempt to keep uncertainty to a minimum.
To many we have advised that post 2020 should now be the focus and ensuring that clients can get to that stage feeling supported and with understanding of the fractured industry we currently find ourselves in.
With that said I have to stress that we feel strongly that clients focus right now must be finding means to make it to 2021, to ensure they can hit the ground running when the industry does take off again.
We must stress that this isn’t intended in any way to further increase the negativity we feel right now and should instead aim to create temporary stability to ensure opportunities and longevity in the industry.
AKT has been in regular contact with Equity and keeping on top of the SOLT discussions and there appears to be an overriding thought that even if we see some productions getting off the ground soon, should you be waiting for new opportunities and not returning to a job it’s likely to be 2021 before we see this fruition. We must point out however, we are halfway through the year and constantly shocked with how fast time goes. We’ll be in a new year before we know it.
Most of the above applies to theatre and you have the utmost commitment that whilst we await a brighter outlook, we will continue to take full advantage and push every suitable opportunity across all sectors that arise for the wonderful AKT clients.
AKT’s Young Client
For AKT’s incredible young clients we hope that you are all remaining on top of your skillset and still finding joy in aspects of performance. Keep your love of the arts alive and before we know it, we’ll see the curtain’s rise again.
AKT has remained in contact with licensing bodies and remains on top of the requirements ready to spring back into action as soon as we are able.
If there is anything that we can help with or point towards skills development during this time, please do get in touch.
AKT has been overwhelmed by the quality of tapes and how easily everyone has adapted during this period. We just want to take this opportunity to say thank you for remaining positive and so speedy in the return of these tapes.
Please stay in touch and hope that whilst things may have been quiet, you’ll understand that we have continued to work as hard as possibly to not only seek opportunities but also attempt to aid in the industry response to recovery.
Times are and have been bleak, but very soon the footlights will be switched back on and the curtains will rise again. AKT wants to ensure that everyone remains with passion strong and able to advance to future opportunities.
In the meantime, if there is anything that AKT can help with or even just conversations/mind easing please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Hopefully the next message will be a more positive one and until then keep performing and stay safe.
